At 257 Sunset Park Drive, in a business park off the main roads, Herndon's beer scene has started over three times. Aslin Beer Company began there before it became a regional name. Juicy Brewing took the space after that and closed its Herndon taproom on October 5, 2025. On March 20, 2026, Hawkley Brewing opened there at noon, and Mayor Keven Leblanc cut the ribbon that afternoon. DC Beer summed up the address this month as the place "where Aslin launched their empire, and where Juicy made hazies for a few years."
Hawkley picked up the old taproom model where Juicy left it, with beer first and snacks on the side. The two breweries that followed it in Herndon this year are built around something else. Each is a restaurant that brews its own beer. NH44 Indian Brewing Co. arrived in June with a full Indian and American menu. Voodoo Brewing opens Saturday, October 24, near the Innovation Center Metro station with an executive chef, hand-stretched pizza dough, and seating for more than 180 people.
The Taproom That Stayed a Taproom
Hawkley keeps the hours of a neighborhood taproom. Its website lists Monday through Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. The food is light: empanadas from Empanada de Mendoza and pretzels from Nordic Knot, and the site shows no regular food-truck schedule. Most evenings are built around trivia, which runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m.
At opening, owner Monte Hawkins told FFXnow that "folks can expect delicious beer, a friendly and warm atmosphere and staff and a new neighborhood brewery to call their own." Seven months later, Hawkley is growing outward instead of adding a kitchen. DC Beer reported on October 5 that Hawkley has started canning its beer and distributing it across Northern Virginia. The outlet chose Easy Tiger Helles, a 5.5% ABV lager, as its October beer of the month, and Hawkins described it as a "German-style lager that tastes like beer."
Hawkley serves as the baseline here. It brews the beer and keeps the room friendly, and dinner is up to you.
NH44 Put the Menu First
NH44 Indian Brewing Co. sits in the Arrowbrook Center off Centreville Road, just south of the toll road. Its neighbors there include Paris Baguette and Super Kyuramnen, a Japanese ramen restaurant. The Burn reported in late June that the brewpub had held a quiet soft opening, more than a year after the outlet first wrote about the plans in February 2025.
The menu has stuffed jalapeños and house wings, hand-tossed pizzas like a Chicken Tikka Pizza and a vegetable-loaded Kisan "Farmers" pizza, Shrimp Tandoor and Lamb Seekh Kabob, and kheer, a cardamom rice pudding, for dessert. The address is 2336 Silver Arrow Way. The brewery's posted schedule shows noon to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday and weekday evenings from 4 p.m. The same page also lists Tuesday as closed, so check before you plan a Tuesday visit.
At Hawkley, the food supports the beer. At NH44, the beer comes with a full dinner menu.
Voodoo Opens at a Metro Stop With a Chef and 24 Taps
Voodoo Brewing Company takes the same idea and builds it bigger. The Pennsylvania brewery, founded by Matt Allyn in Meadville in 2005, opens its first Washington-area location on the ground floor of the Makers Rise apartment building, near the Innovation Center Metro station, on Saturday, October 24. FFXnow lists the address as 2311 Dulles Station Boulevard, and Out & About Fairfax lists 2315, so allow for that if you are walking from the station.
The franchise owner, John Curry Lee, brought in executive chef Jarroun Durrette, who worked with him before at Honor Brewing Company in Fairfax. The menu centers on pizzas, smash burgers and wings. Lee told FFXnow the dough is stretched by hand and the burgers are formed by hand. The space is about 3,750 square feet, with roughly 143 indoor seats and 40 more on the patio. Out & About Fairfax reported 12 to 15 Voodoo beers at launch, up to 24 taps including rotating selections, and pinball machines.
Speaking to FFXnow, Lee described the build-out this way:
"Seeing it come from literally an empty space to what it is now has been amazing, and we are going to offer a lot of very fun, very cool stuff."
According to FFXnow, the hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight on weekends. Trivia starts on Tuesday, October 27, three days after opening. Those 11 a.m. openings put it alongside Ornery as a brewpub you can visit at lunchtime.
Herndon's Beer Map as of This Week
Herndon's two established names already did both things, and they help explain the new arrivals. Aslin's taproom at 767 Elden Street opens at 11 a.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends. Ornery Beer Company runs a full brewpub at Woodland Crossing. NH44 and Voodoo follow Ornery's brewpub approach, and Hawkley follows the taproom approach Aslin began with on Sunset Park Drive.

Aslin's regular calendar includes trivia on Mondays, a run club on Tuesdays, and English Premier League matches on weekends. Its Herndon Oysterfest is set for Saturday, November 14, from noon to 6 p.m.
The taproom also sits a few numbers away from 770 Elden Street, the roughly five-acre town parcel once planned for apartments, an arts center, retail and a parking garage. Comstock told the Town in December 2024 that it would not build the project. In September 2026, a Fairfax County Circuit Court judge granted Comstock's motion to dismiss the Town's complaint, which lets the developer keep control of the property for now. The Town filed a notice of appeal with the Court of Appeals of Virginia on October 7. While that case is pending, Herndon's new places to eat and drink keep opening outside the downtown core, at Sunset Park, Arrowbrook and the Metro.
Saturday, October 24, From Parade to Patio
Voodoo's opening day is also the morning of Herndon's Homecoming Parade. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m., with planned closures on parts of Lynn, Elden and Station streets. If you want to do both:
- Watch the parade downtown from 9:30 a.m. Leave extra time to drive around the street closures.
- Stop at Aslin on Elden Street, which opens at 10 a.m. on Saturdays.
- Head to Voodoo after it opens at 11 a.m. The patio has 40 seats.
- Finish the evening at Hawkley, which is open until 10 p.m. on Saturdays.
Three days later, on Tuesday, October 27, Voodoo's trivia night begins near the Metro, the same evening Hawkley runs its own trivia on Sunset Park Drive.
